The Enchanted Tea Co.
The Enchanted Tea Company started as a passion project; it still is really. I love tea. I love tea strainers and tea pots and tea cups. And I love herbs. It’s actually more of an obsession. Back when I lived in the Southern US, I had an herb garden that had over 200 different varieties of herbs. I grew them because I loved them. I loved the look of them, the smells, the tastes… I cooked with them, I used them to scent soaps and bath salts, and I made basic teas (think peppermint or chamomile).
Fast forward over 20 years and while I didn’t always have a garden (hopefully will get to plant some this year), I always had an extensive herb collection. In 2023 we moved to Scotland and for the first time in 20 years I had the room to plant— just not the time. Honestly, I still don’t have much time thanks to a full-time job, a family, and a mini farm (chickens, ponies, bunnies, etc.), but I still have a need to create— and to drink copious amounts of tea.
Years ago I began studying herbal medicine as an alternative to help deal withy my own chronic health issues and I started to make my own infusion as and decoctions but I still bought my teas from the supermarket. I especially adored flavoured, fruit, and herbal teas. While I was determined to find flavoured teas that were truly flavoured, so many of the teas available claimed to be, for example rich apple cinnamon, but tasted more like apple flavoured water.
Before long I set out to learn to blend my own loose leaf teas and get the rich, full flavours I was looking for. That’s when The Enchanted Tea Company was born, a couple years back when I was blending just for me, but I only made it public and started selling last year. I set about getting the herbalism and food hygiene certifications I needed, plus insurance and now here we are. This year I’m excited to be selling my teas a couple of artisan markets and I have decided to set up an online shop!
That’s probably how you ended up here, from the shop. I’m hoping to use this blog to introduce my tea blends and maybe share a bit of fun stuff here and there, but I’m not promising it will be updated regularly. After all, there’s kids and animals to tend to and, of course, new blends and flavours to create…
